College Orientation

College Orientation

  1. Dates for upcoming colleges can be found at: http://collegeinfo.nouveauriche.com/venues.asp
  2. Preparation:
  3. Go to http://college.nouveauriche.com
    1. Review dates for Special Events
      1. Note them and schedule classes accordingly
      2. Check with your mentor and in your Business Center/OSCAR under "Communication" -> "Calendar" to see if there are any team events at the college. Most will require RSVP in advance.
    2. Review information on Lunch Tickets
      1. The order process for Lunch Tickets is on the web, however, the availability to purchase the tickets is usually about 2 weeks before the college. Keep checking in your business center.
      2. Jim Piccolo takes very personally your purchasing lunch tickets--very seriously and very literally. In order to secure the hotels for our use for classes, he guarantees a certain number of lunches will be bought. If they are not purchased, Jim pays for the remainder out of pocket. Buying lunch tickets is a direct and personal way to say, "Thank you!" to Mr. Piccolo for putting the college together.
      3. Although packing lunches may be slightly less expensive, please consider the following: bringing packed lunches brings extra garbage to the facility requiring extra janitorial work to the hotel; buying and storing lunch food may or may not be used up by the end of week, causing waste or excess; attending hotel lunches allows for networking which is one of the many powerful reasons we are at the college; attending hotel lunch is an efficient use of time and ensures you will be on-time for class; also, Mr. Piccolo has worked directly with the dining services to ensure that the meals won't be too heavy so you won't fall asleep during afternoon sessions.
      4. Also, different leadership teams from around the country put on lunch skits. They are fun and enjoyable. Be sure to ask when our team will be hosting the lunch skit and definitely be there to cheer us on!
    3. Review Room Block
      1. Decide if you will be staying at hotel with a Nouveau Riche room block. Be aware of the strict cancellation policy.
      2. Again, Mr. Piccolo takes very personally your decision to stay at the resort. He also guarantees a certain number of rooms and if they are cancelled last minute or are not used, he pays for those out of his pocket. This is another opportunity to tell Mr. Piccolo "Thank you."
    4. Continuing Education Credits:
      1. If you're seeking continuing education credits review the information to be aware of classes are eligible for what states and professions. collegeinfo.nouveauriche.com/continuededucation.asp
    5. Shuttle Bus: Be aware of drop off and pick-up locations, parking fees, and prohibited parking zones.
  4. Travel:
    1. EVERY student must attend Student Orientation Sunday evening. Plan your travel arrangements accordingly. Information about the orientation can be found at: http://college.nouveauriche.com/specEvents.html

  6. Scheduling Classes:
    1. Login to Business Center
    2. Go to "College"
    3. Click on "Preferences" and take your PPQ: Personal Preference Questionnaire
      1. The PPQ helps you focus on whether you are looking for a "Massive Income" strategy--you need short term transactions which generate cash; OR "Passive Income" strategy--you have money and want to grow your long-term real estate holdings.
      2. Recommendation: 1st College--definitely take Establishing Your Business Vision with other foundation classes. Also take one or two strategy classes. 2nd College--more foundation classes, and one or two strategy classes. DO NOT begin investing in Real Estate until you have completed the equivalent of two colleges. During that time you will work with your mentor to grow your business income.
        1. Examples of foundation classes: Understanding Mortgages, Real Estate 101, Creative Financing, Creative Acquisition, Tax Strategies, Legal Strategies, Negotiations for Real Estate, Wholesaling
        2. Examples of strategy classes: Foreclosures, Tax Liens, Subject-To, Short Sales, Fix-N-Flip
    4. After establishing your strategy, now it's time to schedule classes.
      1. When you go to register for classes you will have to pay a $5/day/person Facility Use Fee. This goes to the hotel to pay for janitorial and staffing services. After paying this fee you can register for classes.
      2. The best way to plan is to print the class times and locations table which is available at http://college.nouveauriche.com/ClassSchedule.html
        1. Click and print and then circle the classes you want and compare times and locations until you have the schedule you want.
      3. Go back to Business Center, "College" -> "Schedule a Class" and click on the button UNDER the title of the class for you or your tuition partner.
      4. If you would like your tuition partner to schedule their own classes, you will need to give them your username and login to your Business Center.
      5. Be sure to save your schedule before navigating away from the page.
      6. To unregister from a class, simply uncheck the box and save the schedule.
      7. As you register for classes, a box of recommended prerequisits will pop-up. They are NOT required and you may continue registering for the class without taking those classes, IF you so desire. However, they are recommended to ensure your successs so decide carefully before taking classes out of order of recommendation.
    5. After Scheduling Classes:

      2. Print your schedule
      3. Bring your schedule print-out and PHOTO ID (DO NOT FORGET!!) for registration Sunday evening before Student Orientation
      4. See you at the college!

        1. If you will not be able to attend, UNREGISTER from the class.
        2. If you need to leave early or come late, ask the door monitor about taking the tests so you receive credit for the class.
        3. Same applies for Tuition Partners
      2. DO NOT schedule tuition partners for the same class on different days at the SAME college.
        1. You may take classes on the same day at the same college or different days at different colleges and it won't affect your credit hours.
        2. If you do schedule the same class on different days at the same college, it will deduct additional credit hours for that class.
